Popenoe once worked for both the U.S. Dept. of<br \/>\nAgriculture\/USDA, and the agribusiness giant, United Fruit Company). In the early<br \/>\n1900s, Popenoe was responsible for bringing Central American avocado seeds to<br \/>\nCalifornia, which contributed to the growth of that state\u2019s avocado industry by World<br \/>\nWar II. In 1946, in recognition for Popenoe\u2019s role in bringing Guatemalan avocados to<br \/>\nAmerica, the California Avocado Society presented a plaque to the city of Antigua<br \/>\n(which Popenoe credited with growing the best variety of avocados anywhere in the<br \/>\ncountry). The Popenoe family donated this home to the Universidad Francisco<br \/>\nMarroqu\u00edn in 2007.<br \/>\nAdmission: Q80 per person.
