It\u2019s also the second largest lake in the country. Why come here? There are<br \/>\nsome 27 Mayan sites around the lake, including the ruins of Tayazal, which are set near<br \/>\nthe town of Flores. Much of the surrounding land is covered with tropical rainforests or<br \/>\nfarms raising sugarcane, cacao, grains, and tropical fruit.
