It is part of a lake and river system that has become a popular cruising<br \/>\nsailboat destination. The river begins at the point where it flows out of Lake Izabal.<br \/>\nThe Dulce River is located within the \u201cR\u00edo Dulce National Park\u201d area that protects the<br \/>\nGuatemalan ecosystem since 1955, containing a great diversity of fauna, among which<br \/>\nare manatees and crocodiles. To travel the 16 kilometers between the \u201cGolfete\u201d (small<br \/>\ngulf) and the ocean, the waters of the river enter through an enormous canyon that<br \/>\nseparates the mountains where high walls of limestone rock with lush vegetation make<br \/>\nthe journey an adventure.
